BUSINESS CONCEPT AND STRUCTURE
Clipius Technologies is comprised of a unique and multi-disciplinary team of engineers (2 Ph.D.s) and physicians (3 M.D.s) who have gained tremendous success in their respective fields. The company is modeled as a “Think Tank” that produces concepts for novel and lucrative products for applications in defense, aerospace and particularly, biomedical areas. The main focus of this company is the creation of intellectual property (IP) in niche markets and the generation of revenues through one and/or a combination of the following three methods:
- Direct licensing of the technology
- Creation of subsidiary companies around a technology
- The development of a viable patent portfolio.
Current status:
- Clipius has six products
- Three out of these six products are licensed and Clipius has a royalty stream from them
- Two products are launched and are currently in the market place
- One of the three licensed products is under a new company in which Clipius has 20% equity in addition to the royalty stream
- Clipius is looking to license the remaining three products
